Disney Cruise FAQ

  • Do I need a passport? Yes and no. You will need a passport for any cruise that starts and ends in a different port. You will also need one for any cruise you leave the country for like any European cruise. You do not need a passport for a cruise that starts and ends at the same port as any of the Florida-based ones, but I do highly recommend them.

  • Do they have alcohol packages like the other cruise lines? No. You can not purchase an unlimited drinking package on the Disney cruises. But they do offer some wine and beer packages. You can also purchase a drink of the day special. Guests over the age of 21 are also permitted to bring one 6 pack of beer on board or 2 bottles of wine on board. They must be packed in your carry-on.

  • How do I pay for things on the cruise? On board the Disney cruise ships you can purchase things by charging them back to your room via the Key to the World card and have that linked to a credit card or you can use a Disney gift card. When on Castaway Cay you will charge things back to your room via the key to the world card. When cruising in foreign countries it is always good to notify your credit card company that you’re traveling. Most places do take cc but smaller businesses might want you to use local currency.

  • What do I need to budget?! This depends. Once your cruise is paid for in full the things you need to think of; tips for the servers (you can pre-pay this), transportation to and from the port (you can add and pay for this in most cases as well), alcoholic or specialty drinks, snacks at the theaters & souvenirs. Other things you may want to include in your budget that are not included in the price of your cruise; are excursions, the spa, and adult dining like Palo.

  • Do I need to book excursions? Nope. You can enjoy first-run movies, shows, characters meet & greets, trivia, and more activities found in your daily itinerary via the Disney Cruise app each day. All those activities (and more) are included in your cruise fare. * If cruising in Europe I do recommend getting off the ship and exploring!
