Disney Cruise Line tips & Tricks

Disney Cruise Line is one of our favorite family vacations! The locations you visit, the magic on board & the food, it is all so wonderful!! I know currently Disney is not sailing due to the pandemic, but when they are up and running you will want to save this page to help you plan a wonderful trip!

The number one question I get is how to save money one a Disney Cruise? The answer; book early, as early as you can! As the ship fills up so can the price. So if you’re just thinking about it, just book the cruise and you will be locked into the best price. I think one of the other great reasons to booking a cruise early is having something to look forward to! I know right now we could all use a little vacation to look forward to! Booking early will not only help save you some money and give you something to look forward to, but it helps give you plenty of time to pay it off and do some research on what you may want to do for your excursions.

The other question I get is what is included? With a Disney cruise there are so many things included, you really could get on the ship and not have to spend any extra money. Your food and non-alcoholic beverages are included, they even have a drink refillable station so you can get soft drinks & water through out the day! One of the things I like about the food being included is it also includes room service!! That’s right folks you can have a lazy day & stay in bed watching Disney movies (yes also included) while a cast member brings food to your room, now thats a magical perk. If you’re a wine or beer drinker you are allowed to bring one 6 pack of beer or 2 bottles of wine on board in your carry on. The alcohol beverages are not expensive on board, and they even offer a discount for the drink of the day, but if you’re really wanting to save every penny then I suggest bringing a bottle of wine on board and enjoy a glass each night in your room. The entertainment is also included. Disney Cruise Line entertainment is top notch! They will offer a variety of shows each night The shows are offered twice a night so everyone has a chance to see them & they are broadway quality shows. Truly they amaze me with the sets, costumes & the singing & dancing!! They should not to be missed. While some people may not be into theater Disney also offers first run movies while on board. The movie times can be found in your daily navigator. We watched some first run movies like Mary Poppins Returns & Avengers while on our cruises. Movie snacks are not included but you’re welcome to bring your own. On our first cruise we went to Five Below before we left. We bought movie theater candy for a few dollars saving us movie snack money. Everyone’s favorite thing that is included in a Disney Cruise is the kids clubs. Every time we have cruised from when our daughter was younger & in the Oceaneer Lab to when she was a teen in Edge & Vibe she has not wanted to leave. She has met friends each time & just had so much fun. Each age group, over the age of 3 to 17years old, has a specific club with age appropriate activities. Now if theater and kids clubs are not your thing, don’t worry Disney thought of you too. Each day you can find a variety of activities and character meet & greets in your navigator. We have enjoyed cooking lessons, napkin folding (seriously it is an art) as well as meeting our favorite Disney characters roaming the ship!

Somethings not included that can add up; alcoholic beverages & other specialty drinks. If you follow my advice above you can save some money on bringing your own wine & beer, or ordering the drink special of the day! Port adventures can also really add up. Disney does offer some great port adventures their private island Castaway Cay that are very affordable. My favorite one is: Castaway Cay Getaway Package. This is a three in one package currently $46. per adult (10 years +) and $26. per child (5-9years) . This includes bike rental for one hour, a float for the day & snorkel gear for the day, seriously the best way to see the island!

I can not wait for Disney to be cruising again! Each itinerary is magical you will have a wonderful time if you pick a three night or a seven night cruise. When you’re ready to book your cruise, or want more information on one please feel free to contact me: gbuck@mickeytravels.com
