Star Wars Rise of Resistance Tips

How to get a boarding pass for the most amazing ride in all of Walt Disney World! But first; what does it mean to ‘get a boarding pass’? Walt Disney World thought of a creative way to help you not wait for hours for the latest Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge attraction. The boarding pass is a fancy way of saying virtual queue or virtual line. The boarding pass helps you not have to wait for hours on end, or get to the park hours before they open. All these things happened when Pandora World of Avatar opened and their e-ticket attraction Flight of Passage became wildly popular. With wait times that lasted for days, ok maybe not days, but you get the idea, you would have waited all day for one ride.

Not wanting lines that wrap around the parks or have people wait for 8 hours, Disney created the boarding pass system for Rise of the Resistance. It has had a few tweaks since it opened in December 2019. I am a huge fan of the latest addition. You may still have to wake up early, but good news is you can be in your pajamas in your room!

Step one- This is something that needs to be done before even try to get the boarding pass. You need to have park tickets purchased and linked to your My Disney Experience account. You also need to have a park pass reservation set up for Hollywood Studios set up for that day. If you’re unsure on how to set up a reservation I made a video here: https://youtu.be/DaSNs3SYOkc

Step two- Make sure everyone in your party is linked together. If you are all sharing a room you should be good to go, but if you’re going with a larger party with multiple rooms you will want to designate one person to have everyone linked in their My Disney Experience account. This person will be the one to try and grab the boarding pass. You can check your ‘friends and family list’ on a desktop or within the app.

Step three- You can make a boarding pass currently at 7am (anywhere), or 1pm within the park. I highly recommend trying for the 7am! At 6:59 open the Disney app. This is the tricky part, boarding passes go with in a matter of seconds, at exactly 7:00am click join the Boarding group. You can get an app to tell you the exact time, this is helpful when you need to press the buttons at exactly 7:00am. I have tried to get a boarding pass a few times. We had luck this way but you have to have fast fingers.

Some other tips to keep in mind- If you have a large party consider breaking it up, as clicking through all your family and friends may take to much time and you can miss out. Test out of the wifi where you are, if it is slow, take your phone off the wifi and use your cellular connection instead.

Boarding passes can be gone within seconds. With current social distancing and limited ride capacity it is hard!! If this is a priority you may want to consider planning more than one day at Hollywood Studios.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if this works for you!
