Where to Stay Wednesday!

Greetings Disney Travelers- Today’s ‘Where to Stay’ post is about one of my personal favorite places the Wilderness Lodge. This deluxe resort is located a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. It has a Northwestern vibe to it, and really looks like a giant log cabin and I am here for it. This is my type of wilderness!

The rooms are getting a make over, I will share some pictures of the new rooms below. A standard room here will sleep 4 guests in two queen beds. The room size is smaller than the Polynesian, but will still be larger than a moderate or value resort. One of the best things about staying here is the over all footprint is smaller than the other deluxe resorts, it doesn’t feel small, but what I mean by that is, it won’t take you a long time to get back to your room at the end of a long day!

One thing I think can be confusing is the fact a couple years ago Disney split the Wilderness lodge in half, and now half of the rooms that were once Wilderness Lodge are now the Copper Creek Villa at the Wilderness Lodge. I will do a separate post about these gorgeous rooms at a later date. You can stay in them but Copper Creek rooms will work a little differently than the Wilderness Lodge rooms. Copper Creek is part of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) and you will be able to book these under 11 months to check in.

When staying at the Wilderness Lodge your room can look out over the pool area, or have a nature view (aka trees) or you might even get a peek of fireworks with a fireworks view room. Honestly you can’t go wrong with any spot here. The new look of the rooms is bright and fresh and I can’t wait to see them in person!!

When we stayed here prior to the shut down the rooms reminded me more of the Grand Californian in Disneyland, but these pictures sort of make me think of Copper Creek rooms, and I am cool with that. I think it keeps the entire place cohesive.

A couple of my priorities when picking resorts to stay in is 1 location & 2 food. This resort has both of those! Wilderness Lodge is a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. What is nice about this is the fact that you’re so very close to the magic, but becuase you’re not on the monorail the resort will be quieter than the monorail resorts. The second priority I always think of; food, doesn’t disappoint here. The quick service spot; Geyser Point works like a traditional quick service spot. You can order at a window, fill up your resort refillable mug and go find a table by the pool. Or you can sit down at a table or at the bar with views of Bay Lake and be waited on. The food & drinks are really really good for a quick service meal. A restaurant a little more well known than Geyser point is; Whispering Canyon. Have you ever heard of anyone say ‘ask for ketchup?’ Well this is the place! They serve a variety of food, but some of the most popular items are the all you care to eat skillets, they’re so delicious!

Let me know if you have ever stayed here, and what you through! Or if you’d like more information! gbuck@mickeytravels.com

Thanks for being here!!
