Where to Stay Wednesday: Art of Animation Resort

Greetings Disney travelers! Today’s where to stay post is all about the fan favorite: Art of Animation!! This larger than life Disney resort was not in Disney’s original plan. Art of Animation was originally supposed to be the second half of Pop Century. What we now know as Pop Century consists of buildings from the ‘Classic Years’ and where Art of Animation is was supposed to be the ‘Legacy Years’ half. But when tourism slowed down after the 9/11 attacks they scaled Pop way back and went back to the drawing board with a new value resort.

Opening in May 2021 Disney’s Art of Animation was added to the value resort list. What is unique about Art of Animation is 2/3 of it is family suites. Each room will sleep 6 people in a one bedroom & two bathroom themed room. The bedroom will have one queen bed and in the living room will be a pull out sofa and a table murphy bed. These are great rooms for families with little kids. Becuase of the size of the beds I would probably not recommend for groups with all adults or grown up kids, just becuase I know me, and I would not sleep well sharing a sleep sofa.

They offer three distinct themed areas for the family suites; Cars, Nemo & Lion King. Nemo is going to be the preferred location and will cost more than Cars or Lion King due to being more conveniently located to the main lobby and main pool area. The Cars area will also have a pool, and it is pretty fantastic! It looks so much like Radiator Springs I think it is such a cool area to explore. Lion King does not have a pool and they are located in between Nemo area and the Little Mermaid wing. The Little Mermaid area will have a pool & they are the furthest away from the main lobby and transportation pick up and drop off. The rooms in the Little Mermaid area only sleep four people in two double beds.

I think this has to be one of the best resorts to walk around and photograph.
