Where to Stay Wednesday- Polynesian

Greetings Disney friends-

Poly-new rooms.jpg

Today we are talking about the famous Polynesian Resort in Walt Disney World! This is one of the three original Walt Disney World resorts, the others are the Contemporary & the Fort Wilderness Campground. The Polynesian has gone through many face lifts through the years, the newest one to be completed early summer 2021.

I love staying here! I think my list of pros outweighs any cons, actually I am not sure I have a con.

The views from the pool are magical. When fireworks start back up you don’t have to worry about the crowds or finding a spot in the Magic Kingdom because you can enjoy them while lounging in the pool! The music from the fireworks is piped in so you can be apart of the magical evening!

The food!! I love every restaurant here, every single one. My favorite resort quick service is here- Captn’ Cooks. The food here is unique & I have never had a bad meal. You can enjoy healthy options or get one of my favorite things to order-the nachos, they are just so good on the homemade chips. I am drooling just thinking about them. Just outside the pool area you can get a Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai, and when dining plans come back this is a snack credit!! Some might consider this the perfect snack on a hot day. The well known Ohana restaurant is a delicious all you care to eat character meal in the morning, and a family style all you care to eat meal with amazing grilled meats in the evening. Kona Cafe is where you can get the famous Tonga Toast for breakfast & a delicious steak or sushi dinner. My last restaurant mention is Trader Sams. If you have not been here or heard of yet, you have to check this place out. Currently not open due to covid but when they do they’re worth the wait Trader Sam’s does not take reservations they are first come first serve and are closed to people under 18 after 8pm. If you’re a late night eater with the kids you can get the same funky drinks and food at the Trader Sam’s Terrance.

Location! If you’re doing a heavy Magic Kingdom trip this is one of the best resorts to consider. You are one boat stop away from the Magic, you can see the fireworks from the pool & if you need a break from the day you’re not far. Disney just opened a walking path from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom. Although a little long for some it is a peaceful walk at the end or the beginning of the day. I love being close to other resorts as well. You can walk over to the Grand Floridian for more shopping & dining options.

Lastly the rooms!! These rooms were pretty cool before the renovation but now they are absolutely stunning! With a beautiful Moana themed rooms you’ll feel like you’ve been immersed in the movie. The standard rooms are a very nice size here too. They will sleep 5 in two queen beds and one pull down sleep sofa. The sleep sofa in the deluxe resorts are big enough for an adult too. Which makes me happy as you children grow you won’t out grow this room!
