Best Walt Disney World Resort when traveling with younger children

Greetings Disney Travelers! I currently have a poll on my Instagram to see where some of you would pick if you were traveling with younger kids. Before the votes are in, again I think my go to place isn’t going to win, I wanted to share where I would recommend staying if you were to be traveling with younger children and why I think it’s a great spot to stay.

Personally, if your budget allows, I would recommend the Polynesian. If a moderate or value resort was more in your budget, I would recommend Caribbean Beach or Pop Century. Both are great spots to stay with being on the Skyliner it helps having easy transportation to two theme parks. If you’re a family of more than four people I would recommend Art of Animation, the family suites are great and they share a Skyliner location with Pop Century. Plus the larger than life theming is perfect for any Disney fan!

Back to the Polynesian, standard rooms can sleep 5 people in two queen beds and a pull out sofa. They are nice spacious rooms and with their new Moana makeover are more popular than ever, if that was even possible!

Everyone vacations differently and wants different things when they’re visiting Walt Disney world. Some of these reason may not apply to everyone. If your young ones want an amazing pool & are very into Star Wars, I would recommend the Beach Club as you’ll be spending more time at Hollywood Studios. If your little one loves animals, then savanna view at the Animal Kingdom Lodge would be so magical. But if this is your first time, or even second and you’re going to be hitting all of the parks, and probably Magic Kingdom twice then the Polynesian would be the best option, in my opinion.

First off the location is so amazing! This is the only resort you can see the castle & watch the fireworks from the pool. This is a great benefit when you have younger ones. They may not be ready for bed, but need down time to cool off and decompress from a busy park day. Hanging in the pool watching the fireworks is a great way to end the day! They do pipe in the music for you too, so you get a great experience without having to fight the crowds. I love that you can walk or take the monorail to Grand Floridian too. This is great to give you more dining and shopping options.

Along with the fantastic location there is great transportation to go with. To get to the Magic Kingdom you have a couple options; the boat is one stop away, or the monorail which is only two stops away from the Magic Kingdom. If you have a child in a stroller the monorail is great, no need to fold it up and get your child out, you can just roll on in the monorail. Being so close to the Magic Kingdom is great if you want to take a mid day break, or forget something in the room. Getting to Epcot is easy too, you can walk over to the Ticket & Transportation Center to take the nice long monorail ride over to Epcot. One thing to note is you don’t need park tickets to take a monorail ride! Have some time to explore or a late flight on check out day? Hop on the monorail and enjoy the views!

The other thing I love, and think everyone will is, the food! There are some great options to eat here. Their quick service is worth traveling too even if you’re not staying here; Capt. Cooks. They have kid friendly things, healthy items & some other great treats! If you’re looking for sit down places check out Kona or Ohana they each have a different menu and are both so delicious. If you want to eat at either one I recommend getting a reservation. One of my favorite places to grab some bites to eat and drink is the famous Trader Sam’s. They do not accept reservations and are a first come first serve place. Children are allowed until 8pm, I believe, after then it is adults only. It is worth going to experience it and meeting the cast member that work there they are amazing, so are the drinks and food. Not currently running is the Spirit of Aloha show, but when it does come back it is a great show, especially with young children. This was an all you care to eat family style restaurant with a Polynesian themed luau.

If you were looking for a spot with younger kids would you stay here? Where would you like to be? I would love to hear your side too!
