Movies & Shows to watch before you visit WDW

If you’re heading to Walt Disney World for the first time and want your children to become a little more familiar with what they will see in the parks for rides and characters, here are the list of movies & shows to watch so they know whats up.

Magic Kingdom

Cinderella: It is her castle you will see!

Peter Pan: This is a classic movie as well as a very popular ride

Little Mermaid: You can see Ariel in the parks, but she also has a fun ride in the Magic Kingdom.

Beauty & the Beast: You can see shows with Belle as well as meet Gaston and eat at his tavern or even in the Beast’s castle: Be Our Guest.

Pirates of the Caribbean: maybe a movie for older kids but this is a classic ride turned into a movie that changed the ride.

Aladdin: Has a magic carpet ride in the Magic Kingdom

Dumbo: A classic ride.

Princess & the Frog: Tiana’s Bayou adventure ride will be opening this year!!

Winnie the Pooh: There is a Winnie the Pooh ride as well as a character meal at Crystal Palace.

Goofy’s Shorts: These classic cartoon will help you really to get to know the Goof as well as A Goofy Movie

Sword in the Stone: A classic movie, can you remove the sword in the stone in Fantasyland?

Alice in Wonderland: You will see Alice in the parks as well as ride the Tea Cups or eat at Cheshire Cafe.

Epcot

Guardians of the Galaxy: This amazing ride will be for older kids, but what a fun way to introduce them to this movie or Marvel movies.

Moana: The Moana Way of Water walk through attraction is so beautiful.

Nemo: This ride follows the movie & after you can check out Turtle talk with crush a fun interactive show.

Coco: There is a cool exhibit inside the Mexican pavilion.

Frozen: I mean who hasn’t seen this?! But if not check it out and have fun on the Frozen ride.

Ratatouille: This is a fun family friendly ride in the France pavilion.

Side note Epcot is a great spot to meet some princesses & some other characters: Belle, Alice, Mary Poppins, Mulan & Snow White to name a few.

Hollywood Studios

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is pretty amazing! When your kids are old enough to watch the film they will LOVE this area.

Toy Story: The Toy Story land has a few rides and a couple places to eat. It is going to a fun spot for the young and old Toy Story fans.

Cars: The Lighting McQueen Academy show is a nice spot for a seat in the AC for any Cars fan.

Frozen: If you have not see this movie yet what are you waiting for? The Frozen Ever After show is so fun a dont’ miss!

Twilight Zone: For the Tower of Terror this classic show helps a rider understand and appreciate the ride even more, definitely for older kids!

Disney Jr Shows: Mickey Clubhouse, Doc McStuffins & Vampirina will be the highlight of the Disney Jr Dance party!

The Muppet Show or any classic Muppet movie: This classic show and characters have a fun show in Hollywood Studios, plus they are just awesome and your kids should know who the Muppets are ;)

Indiana Jones: there is a fun stunt show here based on the first Indiana Jones movie: Raiders of the Last Ark.

Mickey & Minnie cartoon Shorts: Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railways is a fun family friendly ride everyone will love and appreciate.

Animal Kingdom

Avatar: Definitely a movie for older kids. But wow will they and you appreciate Pandora World of Avatar land even more after seeing this movie.

Lion King: The Lion King show here is simply amazing. Doesn’t always follow the movie, but nice to know characters and the story.

Nemo: Another great show not following the movie, but one you’ll appreciate.

Side note some characters you can meet here sometimes: Jungle Book (Baloo & King Louie), UP (Carl, Russell & sometimes Doug), & Moana. Check your My Disney Experience for current character meeting spots and times.
