Renting a Scooter While in Universal or Walt Disney World

Greetings theme park visitors! Today’s post is about renting a scooter while in either Walt Disney World or Universal Studios Orlando. While this may not be something you’re super excited about, it can be so helpful with enjoying a theme park vacation. I have helped a lot of people rent scooters & strollers over the years, and honestly have not had to get one for my own trip, until just recently. Having to rent a scooter last minute was not in my plans, but I am glad I knew where to go to get a reliable one!

For those who need a scooter or plan on getting one in advance this may not be something new to you. But if this is your first time renting a scooter, I have the place for you! Amusement Park Rental has been such a wonderful company to work with, you can also rent strollers as well.

Like with more things a little planning goes a long way, but for us this was a last minute rental. We had just arrived to the hotel & started to enjoy a little pool time. My husband misstepped when going back into the pool & broke his foot. Our room was not even ready yet! This was not an ideal way to begin a trip, but we were determined to make the best of it.

I have worked with a couple scooter companies over the years, but developed a relationship with Amusement Park Rentals and started to work with them more and more. They are so responsive always in communication, I have come to appreciate them more and more over the years. When my husband broke his foot, he didn’t want to get a scooter right away, I think he was in denial, but I contacted Amusement Park Rental anyway. They responded promptly and we set up a time the next morning to meet.

When their driver was stuck in traffic, he called to say he would be late and let us know where to meet up. Once he arrived he was so kind in showing us how to work the scooter and then we were off to enjoy our time!

A lot of the rides or experiences in Universal are not set up to have someone drive their scooter through the queue. You have a couple options, walk through the line, or ask the team member for a transfer wheelchair so a member of your party can push you through the line. This is something that worked well for us. Walking more than a short distance on a broken foot was painful and some of those lines are long, even if you’re moving the entire time it can be a lot of extra walking. Once you’re at the attraction the team member will take the wheelchair and leave it at the exit for you. Once you’re off the ride you can hop back into the chair and make your way to the scooter parking! Universal made it so easy for us, my husband was able to enjoy all of the attractions he wanted to & did not go home with more than one broken foot. Disney has a similar set up as well. Some ride queues are just a little tight for a scooter to turn in and riding in a wheel chair makes it possible to get to the attraction comfortably. If you have any questions while in either Universal or Walt Disney World a cast member or team member can be so helpful letting you know the procedures of what attractions work with scooters, wheelchairs & what ones you need to be able to transfer out of the chair to enjoy the ride.
